What Is A Prolapsed Hemorrhoids?
There are four different stages for prolapsed hemorrhoids. The first stage is when the hemorrhoid has not prolapsed. The second stage is when the hemorrhoid prolapsed upon a bowel movement but reduces naturally; stage three is when the hemorrhoid prolapsed upon a bowel movement and must be manually reduced. The fourth stage is when the prolapsed hemorrhoid cannot be manually reduced.
Causes of prolapsed hemorrhoids and in fact any hemorrhoids are currently unknown. The enlargement of the hemorrhoids is due to inflammation in the blood vessels but it is unknown why the blood vessels become inflamed. Doctors have found links between lifestyle and stress as lifestyle changes can decrease the occurrence of hemorrhoids. Many times hemorrhoids are though to arise from putting undue stress on your muscles when going to the bathroom though pregnancy and other issues can also lead to hemorrhoids.
Many times a prolapsed hemorrhoid will need to be treated, generally prolapsed hemorrhoids that are in stage three or four. There are several surgical procedures that can be used. It is best to treat your hemorrhoids as soon as possible as you can avoid surgery. There are many non-operative procedures to deal with stage one and stage two hemorrhoids. Many times hemorrhoids will go away naturally but if your hemorrhoids are prolapsed then you will need treatment.
Dilation is not used a lot to treat hemorrhoids. If your hemorrhoids are due to increased sphincter pressure then dilation is used to stretch the anal canal. However this tends to damage the sphincter and patients can no longer control their bowel movements. Doppler ligation has made it possible to determine which artery is filling the hemorrhoid vessel. It is then possible for the doctor to tie of the artery, which causes the hemorrhoid to shrink. This procedure is expensive and rubber band ligation functions in the same way and is less expensive.
Doppler ligation and rubber band ligation are very popular though rubber band ligation is much less expensive and just as effective as Doppler ligation. Doppler ligation allows that doctor to determine which blood vessel is inflamed and then ties it off to stop blood circulation. The hemorrhoid then shrinks naturally. Rubber band ligation works in the same principal except a rubber band is used to cut of circulation of all the vessels in the effected area. These two types of procedures are quite simple and not overly invasive.
It is also possible to have the hemorrhoid shrink by injecting the cell walls of the effective tissue with a chemical that causes the blood to stop flowing in that area. It is also possible to have the hemorrhoid completely removed.
A stapled hemorrhoidectomy is quickly becoming the treatment of choice. This treatment actually manipulates the stretched cushioning tissue that caused the hemorrhoid to move. In this way the tissue is refolded or even removed and then the hemorrhoid is stapled back into its original place.
The best way to treat hemorrhoids really is to prevent them and if you exercise regularly, eat a high fiber diet, avoid stress and drink plenty of water then you will decrease your chances of having hemorrhoids.
