Iron Man – Now Out on DVD and Blu Ray
What can I say; the movie of the summer is on DVD. Im not talking about the Batman movie; I am talking about Iron Man. Nothing against Batman, it was a very good, if not great movie. This past summers Batman movie was probably the best Batman movie since the 1988 release with Jack as the Joker. That one was certifiably great. Iron Man was different. It was a top notch super hero movie, with all the explosions and special effects that you would expect from a summer blockbuster, but it had more.
Yes it was an origins tale, telling the story of Tony Stark and a reimagining of Iron Mans beginning. But it wasnt just a story about a hero trying to make the world a better place. It was the story of a man that learned by lifes experiences what it was to be a man, to stand up for something and do whats right, not just what is convenient and good for him.
Tony Sparks began as a playboy millionaire to a superhero. Although he was still a playboy he calmed it sown a bit. Because he was so rich he was able to build himself a super suit for his adventures. The movie gave us a lot of intense and fast action scenes. The Blu-Ray looks great on a HDTV. The Blu-Ray also has many extras in this two dis compilation. From commentaries by the directors to featurettes on how the film was made.
There is a seven part documentary showing the making of the film and most of the extra features are in HD. There are plenty of extended scenes and deleted scenes for fans that cant get enough of Tony Stark and his friends. There are extras on the Blu-ray that you cant get on the DVD release along with some exclusive BD-Live features where the viewer can connect to the Internet and share their own commentary with the other Iron Man fans out in cyberspace.
This film is one of my favorite super hero movies to date. I can not wait for the sequel to come in April of 2010. I just hope that the writing only gets better, as it has with newly launched Batman series. As long as George Clooney and the writers of his Batman movie stay away we should be fine.
